We Will Collective & Jurgy Beef Jerky - Built on Community

As a former Cyclone and as a member of the founding team at Jurgy Beef Jerky, I am very proud to officially announce our partnership with We Will Collective, an organization dedicated to supporting student-athletes at Iowa State University. Jurgy Beef Jerky, a provider of high-quality beef jerky products, views this partnership as a significant step in both organizations’ commitment to fostering a positive impact on local communities while promoting a shared value of community support and student-athlete empowerment.

My name is Dan Sichterman and I am part of the founding team at Jurgy. Previously, I was a Cyclone student-athlete, playing defensive end at Iowa State University from 2017-2020. As a member of Coach Campbell’s first full recruiting class I was lucky enough to be a part of such a great era of Cyclone football, ending my career with a win in the Fiesta Bowl in 2020. Though team success on the field was certainly fun, my best memories were made with so many amazing teammates, classmates, fans, and community members off the field.

I think many would agree those “off the field” bonds are truly special and will be a major contributor to the success of Iowa State Athletics for years to come. The Ames community and being “Loyal Forever True” is something I proudly represent and have truly felt the magnitude of ever since I first walked the tailgate lots on a gameday over eight years ago. I am a proud graduate of Iowa State University and share continued excitement for Cyclone Athletics through many relationships built during my time in Ames.

When I think about how this partnership came together I believe it can be attributed to one key shared value: Community. Working with We Will Collective and seeing their contributions to many outstanding non-profit and charity organizations in Central Iowa is both humbling and relatable. During my four years at Iowa State I had the opportunity to take part in events such as Victory Day, Night to Shine, and Tornado clean-up in Marshalltown that have had such a profound impact on me. Seeing our current athletes take part in similar events brings back fond memories of times spent with my own teammates and within the Iowa communities.

Not only does this resonate very close to home for me, it also directly aligns with the deep values of Jurgy. Cam Jurgens, our Co-founder, who may be more widely-known as an offensive-lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, comes from very similar roots as many great people in Iowa. Cam’s great grandfather started his family’s farm, Jurgens Farms over 100 years ago, in the small town of Pickrell, Nebraska. Cam was raised on community, hard-work, and humility and those are the same principles that Jurgy Beef Jerky was built on. Cam, along with my triplet brother Matt, started Jurgy Beef Jerky while they were student-athletes at the University of Nebraska, and fully align with the decision to partner with We Will Collective.

We Will Collective has a simple mission: to support student-athletes that share their passion for the Cyclones and encourage them to be community-minded. Through this partnership, Jurgy Beef Jerky will contribute a percentage of sales to support We Will Collective’s initiatives. We are starting with a presale available now that will ship out in June.

This partnership signifies strong unity between past, current, and future Cyclones. Together, we are committed to creating an even brighter future for Iowa State student athletes and their communities.
